Sports and Politics

Why is it that Sports and Politics are always somehow intertwined on CBSsports? They are similar to beer and wine to me. Both are fun to drink but over-indulge and prepare for the worse. Or in the case of Sports and Politics, over-indulge and prepare for the 1 star.
